Devotion & Love.....
Devotion and Love...ummm, seem primary essential factors in developing spirituality. They are different names. but they have the same meaning. There is, however, some difference in degree between love and devotion, despire their being one and the same.
Devotion is a spontaneous current of attraction which draws one towards the Beloved. Love is another name for union of being one with Beloved. Love is also the state of mind of a person who is awakened by deep one-pointed or concentrated joy in devotion to the Beloved. At this stage the goal of devotion is fulfilled. Love is true prayer to Lord. When a devotee is in that state of intoxicating bliss, just one movement of the mind brings such person to the stage where Beloved's name is repeated only once and the devotee immediately beholds and unites with the Beloved. At the same time every cell of body calls out to Beloved, and tears flow from the eyes of lover.
"Repetition, austerity, pleasure, comfort, honour, fame, power - all are worth sacrificing for one infinitestimal bit of love."
That eye is fortunate through which pearls of tears are shed in remembrance of the Beloved. That heart is blessed which is being burned in the fire of separation from Beloved, because the tears from the eyes, falling on the ground of the heart, are responsible for bringing forth the blossoms of the mysteries of God. Just as the merciful rain produces multicoloured flowers on the earth, similarly, the eyes that are drenched with tears of remembrance of the Beloved bring forth flowers of spirituality. Hence, the status of love is very high.
"Babaji says...Whoever has loved, has found Him. Without love nobody has achieved anything on this path."
When love is present, all His blessings come together; and witout love they vanish. Our family life, business transactions or any other activity will bring happiness and all comforts, even if one particle of love is mixed with them.
When there is love, all thoughts and feelings of hatred, anger or ill will vanish. Love is the path of sacrificing everything. It'ss another name for giving away one's heart. It is power which is eternal. Everybody talks of love, but nobody really knows what love is. One has developed love when one is filled with all the time. It's such a strong force that it cann't be broken nor can be given up even if one were to try to do so.
Love is the life-stream of this world and is also the essence of our life. It is the very core of purity and simplicity. Without it, the whole world is empty. It is the Elixir which keeps life in full bloom. Love is not a shop where one bargains; for where love is concerned, one has to sacrifice.
"Saint Kabir says...Whoever is prepared to sacrifice himself can drink from the cup of love, but neither a greedy person nor a selfish one can do so, even though he may swear by love and may talk of love."
The path of love is not the path of arguments and reasoning. One has to be intensely one-pointed on this path. Love unites two hearts into one and thus removes duality. In such a state, it's not possible to separate them - just as milk and water, if mixed, become inseparable.....
